DONATO (DANNY) PIETRODANGELO
Donato (Danny) Pietrodangelo, was born in New York City and holds a bachelor’s degree in English and Communications and master’s degree in Communication (communication theory) from Florida State University. He works in multiple media including writing, graphic design, magazine editing, digital media production, bringing a diverse set of skills and experience to his projects, as well as experience in both the public and private sector.
He is president of Pietrodangelo Production Group, Inc., a Tallahassee based design and digital media production firm he established in 1983. Prior to establishing the firm, Pietrodangelo served for 10 years as a senior manager in Florida state government, working as an Assistant to the Attorney General, and Publications Editor and Communications Director for the Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services which, at the time, was the largest state agency in the country. In these capacities He was responsible for writing, producing and designing brochures, newsletters and public service advertisements. He was also editor and art director of access Magazine, a professional magazine with a circulation of 40,000
Pietrodangelo's recognition as a media producer/ director began in the early 1980s when public awareness campaigns he produced and directed for the state of Florida on AIDS, child abuse, volunteerism and product safety received national attention. During this same period he served as The Governor's Ad hoc Advisor on Telecommunications, where he specialized in working with the cable industry to improve distribution and use of public service announcements produced by state agencies.
Since founding Pietrodangelo Production Group, he has written produced and directed award winning documentaries; commercial advertising and public awareness campaigns; educational, marketing and training programs; as well as written, edited and designed, print publications, magazines, Power Point presentations, computer animations; and. interactive multimedia on a wide range of topics including health care, drug abuse, teenage pregnancy, naval history, corporate products and services and more.
He has written more than 100 video program scripts, numerous scripts for television advertising, as well as written and designed print advertisements, brochures, manuals and Power Point presentations for national and multinational corporations and governmental entities including: the U.S. Naval War College, the U.S. Department of Interior, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) General Dynamics Land Systems, Columbia Health Care, Humana Corporation, The Florida Governor’s Office, the Florida Chamber of Commerce and more. His work in film, digital media production, magazine editing and design, instructional media development, video and film, photography, multimedia and animation, has garnered various national, regional and local awards in such competitions as the Apex Awards for Publication Excellence, Hermes Awards (print) the prestigious AVA Awards, the Charleston Film Festival, the National Telly Awards, the Healthcare Advertising Awards, the Best in the East Awards, the Silver Microphone Awards, the Golden Image Awards, Angel Public Service Awards, the ADDY Awards and others.
He is an accomplished professional writer and still photographer, whose photo essays and articles have appeared in Florida Magazine, Photography Forum, Maine Live, Caribbean Chronicles, Creative Camera, Gannett Newspapers and others. His photographs have been widely exhibited in solo and group juried exhibitions
He is currently editor and art director for the award-winning magazine, Dragon Nhus, the official publication of the Cuong Nhu Oriental Martial Arts Association.
As an adjunct professor, he has taught writing for media and speechwriting at Florida State University, where he currently teaches photography.
